In 1972, I graduated college and entered the world of work as an Industrial Arts teacher, now described as a Technology Educator….”shop teacher.” I taught electricity, woodworking, drafting, and auto mechanics.
Once employed, my first new car wasn’t a car, it was a ’72 Dodge Tradesman Van. To that van I added air conditioning, carpet, a couch/bed, kitchen cabinet, CB radio, and interior lighting – all DIY projects. The first trip was a 4 week, 7000 mile jaunt thru the countryside from CT to Cleveland, Memphis, Little Rock, Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Orlando, The Keys, and Washington DC. That van lasted 12 years and 160,000 miles!
Next came a number of years as a Media Specialist, University Instructor, and Technology Director and Administrator.
Now that I’m retired, I thought it would be fun to get a basic van, add some features and make it a multi-purpose vehicle. Ev was on board with the idea, so here we go!
